Jade Ovendale is taking over as the new head coach of the Hastings College women's soccer team. Ovendale is coming from junior school, Northern Oklahoma College.

She was the head coach of the women's team after spending three seasons as the assistant coach of the men's team. In the two seasons as the head coach, the women's team went 24-9-2.

Ovendale said she is ready to make the jump to Hastings College and take over a Broncos program which has already shown success. But she wants to put her own spin on the program.

"Sometimes a good thing is a good thing for a long while and then you forget what got you there in the first place," Ovendale said. "I feel like I want to come in and sort of have that blue collar type attitude that has got that program to where it is in the first place."

Currently, Ovendale is in Hastings and said she is excited to start practicing with the team. Per NAIA guidelines, practices and activities for fall sports cannot start until August 15.
