Kearney Salvation Army asks for food donations

KEARNEY, Neb. (KSNB) -- The Salvation Army in Kearney is asking for food donations as they find themselves short this month. The office is located on Central Avenue downtown. They say that they also can't help any more families this month is finances.

They say they normally can make it month to month but are uncertain as to why there has been an increase of assistance.

There are numerous items they need and they request people do not donate things in glass containers.

“If you're working, blessed enough to have a job if you're not starving it's a lot easier to do your job this way,” Assistant Corp Officer Lieutenant Liza Ayala said. “Any kind of food that helps they are so blessed to receive whatever the people are grateful whatever we have.”

People come to the Salvation Army once a month for food assistance or once a year for financial help.
