UPDATE: Suspect referred in Kearney elementary school vandalism

KEARNEY, Neb. (KSNB) - UPDATE:
Kearney Police said a 20-year-old male male suspect has been arrested following vandalism at Central Elementary School.

KPD said via Facebook that the man was contacted by officers and will be referred to the Buffalo County Attorney's Office for the filing of charges in this case.

ORIGINAL STORY:
A playground area at a Kearney school sustained damage after a vehicle drove through it.

Around 12:35 a.m. Saturday, officers took the report of a hit and run/vandalism, at Central Elementary School.

Police found that a vehicle had driven through a fenced in playground area, causing significant damage to two separate fences, playground equipment and a large picnic table. The vehicle fled the scene has not been located.

Evidence from the scene indicates the suspect vehicle is charcoal gray or black, 1999-2006 Chevy Silverado, or GMC Sierra 2500 - 3500 HD pickup.

KPD said the vehicle most likely sustained significant damage to the front end and/or undercarriage. The vehicle should also be missing a side mirror and fuel filler door.
