HASTINGS, Neb. (KSNB) Summertime events like county fairs are when 4-H activities and the kids involved in them get the most attention. But, right now is the time to join 4-H clubs to get fully involved and to be ready when next summer rolls along.
The Adams County Extension Office will be hosting a 4-H Kickoff event Sunday from 2:00 to 4:00 p.m. at the Adams County Fairgrounds Activity Building. There will be demonstrations and hands-on activities.
Extension assistant Julie Ochsner says 4-H is open to youth from ages five to 18. Ochsner likes to quote the old expression. "It ain't all cows and cooking" when describing 4-H as having something for everyone - whether a kid living in town or out on a farm.
"There's tons of projects", said Ochsner. "If you're interested in robotics. If you're interested in STEM projects. There's all of that available for the kids."
Of course, there is still the traditional animal and cooking projects for those interested as well, she says.
More information on joining 4-H, including on-line registration, can be found on the Adams County Extension web sitet, or my calling the Extension office at (402) 461-7209.
