Local church raises money for women in need

HASTINGS, Neb. (KSNB) - The season of giving has already started for one church in Hastings. People gathered at North Shore Church for their annual craft fair.

Arts, crafts, and homemade treats filled the church and the funds raised all go towards a good cause. The money will go towards Women's Ministry which works to help women locally and around the world through tough times.

“We are the women's ministries and everything we do basically supports women or children in advancement of ministry and advancement in life,” Women’s Ministry Director Melissa Johnson said. “Whether they're struggling, we have provided jobs internationally for women rescued from sex trafficking.”

They also work to help women recover and provide jobs worldwide.

“But locally we provide baby boxes to Mary Lanning hospital and basically these boxes, we call them lost baby boxes for women who experience miscarriage or stillbirth,” Johnson said.

They also try to raise awareness of the dangers of sex trafficking and how it affect the Hastings area.
