CENTRAL CITY, Neb. -- The Merrick County Sheriff's Office confirms a 64-year-old man died in a two-vehicle crash on Highway 92 Wednesday.
Authorities say the crash happened at 8:17 a.m. at Mile Marker 375 on Highway 92. A preliminary investigation says a westbound vehicle crossed the center line, striking an eastbound car.
The two occupants of the westbound vehicle were transported to Merrick Medical Center in Central City, with the driver being pronounced dead at the hospital shortly after. Two other passengers in the eastbound vehicle were transported as well, but both have what's considered as non-life threatening injuries.
Police say seat belts weren't used in the westbound car and alcohol or drugs are not believed to be a factor at this time. The names of the occupants and the deceased are not being released until next of kin have been notified.
The Central City Police Department, Central City Ambulance and the Central City Fire Department assisted the Merrick County Sheriff's Office on scene.
