McCook man killed in crash in Frontier County

FRONTIER COUNTY, Neb. KNOPTV The Frontier County Sheriff’s Office says 28-year-old Keith Padilla of McCook was killed Monday afternoon near Maywood.

The accident happened at 2:36 p.m. about three miles north of Maywood.

Law enforcement says Padilla was southbound on Highway 83 when his car, a 2007 Ford Taurus, crossed the centerline and crashed head on with a northbound loaded semi-truck.

Padilla was pronounced dead at the scene. The driver of the semi was taken to McCook Community Hospital with minor injuries.

An autopsy for Padilla was ordered. Drugs and alcohol are suspected as contributing factors in the crash.

The Nebraska State Patrol, Maywood and Curtis Ambulances, as well as Maywood and Curtis Fire Department assisted with the accident and remains under investigation.
