Microchip clinic to help get pets, owners together
When a pet gets separated from their owners, it can be a stressful moment for all involved. Getting the two reunited can happen easier if the pet has has an identifying microchip implanted.
Heartland Pet Connection will be having a special clinic Thursday, June 20 with a special $15 fee for microchip implants.
Workers at Heartland Pet say they see an increase in the number of lost pets around the 4th of July holiday. That's why they planned the event for this time.
"That way we are able to reunite them if they do run away and get them back home," said Jennie Theesen from Heartland Pet Connection. "Which is ultimately what we all want. That's our main goal of all this is get them back home where they're safe and sound."
Once an animal has a microchip installed, clinics can scan for identifying information to reunite pet and owner.
Theesen says it is a quick process. Oftentimes 10 to 15 minutes of paperwork is what takes the longest.
