HASTINGS, Neb. (KSNB) - It's the day after Black Friday and a few days before Cyber Monday and on Small Business Saturday it is the mom and pop shop's chance to get in on all of the Christmas shopping taking place right now.
Small businesses all across the Tri-Cities have their sales going on as well. Stores in downtown Hastings had a number of deals and coupons. For some of the stores this is their busiest day of the year. They see a lot of regulars but had a lot of new faces come through Saturday.
“If they shop here their money stays in town rather than online where you don't know where your money is going and we support the town and then they support us back,” Downtown Center Association Director Tammy Orthmann said
One store that opened in downtown just last week said having a small store has a lot of benefits.
“I think we have a lot more variety and if somebody needs something we can order it most likely. Usually large stores have to order big quantity or go through corporate before they can order,” Ellsie Houdek, owner of LC Gifts said.
Houdek said they have felt very welcomed by the community and having an emphasis on small stores goes a long way for a city.
