HASTINGS, Neb. (KSNB) - More improvements are on the way for the Hastings Municipal Airport.
Earlier this year the Hastings City Council approved an agreement with Meyers Aviation to provide F-B-O (Fixed Base Operator) services under the brand Hastings Air.
Monday night the city approved an engineering agreement for airport improvement project HSI-SA6. They also approved of a contract with a construction company to expand the concrete apron next to building 11 at the airport. The projects also includes drainage improvements and door upgrades with some of the work already underway.
The city council is looking to promote traffic growth at the airport.
David Wacker, City Engineer, Hastings
"We have a true gem here in Hastings, runways are long enough for jet traffic to land. Get fueled up and go on their way without the congestion or some of the confusion of some of the larger airports."
The city received a $111,000 grant from the Nebraska Department of Transportation.
