Crews were called out to the home at 106 Chestnut Street, Lot 11, just before 3:15 a.m. Wednesday.

Alda Fire Chief Colt Miles told our reporter on scene that one person was inside at the time of the fire but was able to safely leave and was not hurt.

When crews arrived on scene, flames were coming from the top of the home. Firefighters from Alda and Grand Island Rural were able to put the fire out, though they did have to knock down a wall inside.

The Hall County Sheriff's Department said the Alda Fire Chief advises the fire was most likely caused by the water heater or lightning.

The Fire Marshal was called to the scene to investigate.

The American Red Cross was called out to assist the homeowner.
