LINCOLN, Neb. -- Fire Investigators in Lincoln said a fire started in the bedroom of a house at 42nd and Y Streets Thursday morning. The bedroom is where a person was found dead. Fire investigators said they have a theory on how the fire started.

Lincoln Fire and Rescue said a man lived at the home but until autopsy results come back they can't confirm that's who died.

Emergency crews were called to the house near 42nd and Y Streets shortly after 1:00 a.m. Thursday. When firefighters arrived, the house and roof were engulfed in flames.

The person who died was taken to Omaha for an autopsy. Investigators could release new information Friday.

According to fire investigators, the house is a total loss. There was $70,000 damage to the home and an additional $50,000 damage to contents inside.
