Palestinians tour GI Waste Water Treatment Plant

GRAND ISLAND, Neb. (KSNB) - Waste water treatment and management was the topic of an international tour today in Grand Island.

Grand Island Area Council for International Visitors host six Palestinian Territories visitors Tuesday

Six visitors from the Palestinian Territories toured the plant Tuesday. Grand Island Waste Water Treatment plant staff got to show Palestinians how we go about treating our waste water.

The Grand Island Area Council for International visitors partnered with the Department of State's International Visitor Leadership Program, where ideas are shared on a variety of topics.

"Lessons and techniques that they can take home and make improvements and often times we learn from them so it is citizen diplomacy at its best," said Jody Powers, Grand Island Area for International Visitors.

Waste water in Palestine has capacity issues and they are working to improve contamination. Sharing issues, processes and best practices can help both places improve.
