Pets don't like storms either
Don't be surprised if you find out that your pets don't like storms like those that passed through central Nebraska this week any more than their human owners.
Trish Cannady from Heartland Pet Connection in Hastings says they will be affected.
"It can stress them out and it can super excite them," said Cannady. "Sometimes you might find your dog hiding under a bed, or behind the couch, or in the tub."
Cannady says when they know storms are approaching at the shelter, they will turn up a stereo in the kennel area to help drown out the outside noise and keep the pets calm.
She says to also remember that dogs can sense when their owners are stressed, so you may want to appear calm around them.
Cannady says Heartland Pet Connection continues to have a lot of animals available for adoption. They are continuing a pricing special on cats at this time.
