Lincoln Police make arrest, identify victim in murder at 27th and Holdrege

LINCOLN, Neb. (KOLN) – Lincoln Police have made an arrest and identified the victim in a homicide on the corner of 27th and Holdrege Thursday morning.

Police arrested 22-year-old Michael Dewey for 1st Degree Murder and Use of a Weapon to Commit a Felony.

Police said the victim is 47-year-old Desmond Fowler of Lincoln. Police arrested 22-year-old Michael Dewey Thursday at 7:50 p.m. at in the 2200 block of South 14th Street for 1st Degree Murder and Use of a Weapon to Commit a Felony.

Police said it began as a disturbance in the 2800 block of Potter. Police did not give further details to what led up to the shooting.

The investigation shows Dewey was the driver of the vehicle. Police said a white car with front end damage was in the area at the time of the shooting.

Multiple people were taken into custody for questioning just before 7:30 p.m. Thursday evening. Police said they believe there are other witnesses to the shooting that have not come forward. The gun used in the shooting has not been recovered. If you have any information please call Lincoln Police at 402-441-6000.

LPD was called to the 27th & Holdrege intersection around 9:40 a.m. Thursday on a report of shots fired. The victim, who was found with a gunshot wound lying on the sidewalk, was deceased when emergency crews arrived. The shooting took place across the street from the Lincoln Police Center Team station.
