KEARNEY, Neb. (KSNB) - The addition of flights from United Express a little over a year ago has resulted in a record breaking year for the Kearney Regional Airport.

City officials say that there were 21,269 enplanements during 2019. That figure represents the number of people who boarded flights in Kearney during the year.

The previous record was 13,042 enplanements set in 2013. The new record represents a 63% growth from that previous mark.

United Express began offering non-stop jet flights from Kearney to Denver in September of 2018. Since that time, they have set 14 consecutive record-breaking months, peaking with a one-month record of 2.953 passengers boarding in Kearney in December, 2019.
A new daily flight to Chicago was added by United Express in December.

In a press release, Kearney officials called the success of the airport "very important" to Kearney and the surrounding area.
