HASTINGS, Neb. (KSNB) - With Thanksgiving soon, local restaurants are teaming up to give back to those who may need a little help getting a good dinner.
Local restaurants and stores in Hastings donated their food to help the Salvation Army put on their Thanksgiving meal. (KSNB)
The Hastings Salvation Army will be hosting their annual holiday meal and they have been getting a lot of help. Restaurants like the Plainsman in Juniata and Bullseye's in Hastings donate what they can to make sure the community is well fed.
“We've been here, this is our 22 year, and I think we've been giving to the Salvation Army for at least 20 of those years and usually it's salads. I try and donate two different varieties,” Bullseye’s Owner Rod Strong said.
They said they like to pitch in during the holidays because they know money can be tight and that doesn't mean someone shouldn't get to celebrate thanksgiving.
“It's such a good cause and they work so hard year round with all types of events making sure people have a meal and somewhere to go and have that,” Strong said.
Other area businesses that are helping out include Russ’s Market, Allen’s, Valentino’s, Goldenrod Cafe, KFC, and Eileen’s Cookies.
The meal will be served at the handicap accessible Masonic Center in downtown Hastings and runs from 11:00 am-1:00 pm.
