Sand sculpture becomes fair tradition

GRAND ISLAND, Neb. (KSNB) -- The Nebraska State Fair has a lot of traditions and one that has started a few years ago is the giant sand sculpture.

In the Nebraska building guests can find this sculpture made out of sand clay. It is in the shape of fair favorites and people of all ages are amazed by its size and detail.

Volunteers say it takes multiple days to complete and is done by two men from Florida who do these sculptures all over the world.

“Some people have came in and they said they really enjoy this and they look forward to coming every year,” Fair Volunteer Donna Bilslend said. “A few of them say they come here and it's been an annual thing now to get their picture taken in front of it.”

The sculpture will stay in the building all year and the artists will remold the same sand for next year's fair.
