Scoop's Ice Cream benefits community

Scoop's Ice Cream, run through Heartland United Way, has been in Grand Island at the Nebraska State Fair for a decade. In those ten years, Scoop's has given back to the community in more ways than one.
Entirely run by volunteers, Scoop's gets nearly 200 new volunteers each year, with some returning from the previous years, to help scoop cones for a cause which serves Hall, Hamilton, Howard and Merrick counties.
According to Cammie Benson, the Director of Community Engagement for Heartland United Way, Scoop's has raised $200,000 for families in need, $80,000 for the State Fair and another $30,000 in local and state taxes.
Scoop's is primarily open at the State Fair and for a handful of other events in Grand Island. People can visit Scoop's Facebook page for more information on events and when it is open.
