GRAND ISLAND, Neb. (KSNB) - As we wrap up one of the busiest shopping weekend of the year, trends are showing more people choosing to shop online versus in stores.

A recent study shows it was actually down even on Black Friday with online shopping being up 20% that day since last year. According to Adobe Analytics the average was a 6.2% drop of in store sales while online shopping hit a record of $7.4 billion.
"A lot of stores are trying to figure out where the footsteps are this year," Grand Island's Burlington Store Manager Jake Scheideler told Local4 News. "Fourth quarter is make or break for any retail."
Scheideler has been the Store Manager for Grand Island's Burlington and he says they work for months before the holidays to keep customers coming in.
"We've turned it up since back to school here at Burlington and a lot of it might just be our community involvement, but a lot of it might just be our great deals that people are coming in and finding in here," he said.
While great deals can be found online, you can't participate in their drives to give back to the community. Starting Monday, they're hosting a coat drive for Hope Harbor.
"You can save 10% off on a purchase if you drop off any of your used coats," Scheideler said. "If you have coats in your closet, bring them in and we'll give you a coupon to save 10% in our store. By doing that, it's not really affecting our Cyber Monday with everybody shopping online so why not drop off a coat and come into Burlington to shop."
When you shop in store at local businesses as opposed to online, your money is more likely to stay in the area and go back to your community.
