Gayle Bonnes is the owner of three Slumberland Furnitures in Central Nebraska. She says her stores save up each year to be able to provide this service. As much as it means to her and her staff, it's really all about helping those in need.

"They are so excited," Bonnes told Local4 News. "I've already had calls from parents saying 'are you really bringing my child a bed today? Is this really true?' they're just full of excitement to have their own bed to sleep in."

They do give out more than just beds each year. Children also get pillows, quilts and, for the first time, they're also getting bags of food this year. HyVee brought 17 bags of food to be given out with donations.

This was the first year they were a part of this event. Their Store Director, Brent Grummert, said they were excited to get involved as soon as Bonnes asked them to.

"Her passion is very infectious," Grummert said. "So obviously it's a natural connection in regards to giving away beds to the needy and certainly food as well."

This was the 22nd year for "Making Homes for the Holidays" and Bonnes says she plans to continue bringing it back year after year.
