Softball players brave the cold for Snowball Softball Tournament

HASTINGS, Neb. (KSNB) - The snow was just in time for a round of Hastings snowball softball games and the players are to be pretty dedicated with those wind chills.

The Hastings Parks and Recreation Department held their annual Snowball Softball Tournament today. People from all over Nebraska come to join a team and play their favorite off season game.

The snow doesn't stop them, they say in the past they have played in inches of snow and below zero temperatures.

“These are really the die hard softball players,” Recreation Coordinator Landon Arnold said. “They play in the summer, fall, and obviously now. They try to play year round. I'm sure if we had a league in the winter they would probably play.”

Some people drove all the way from Columbus to be able to take a swing at winning a game Saturday afternoon. The tournament is capped off at 5 teams so if you want to play next year then be sure to sign up early.
