Traffic delays expected Tuesday due to construction
If you will be in Grand Island Tuesday morning, expect traffic delays at the Adams Street and Stolley Park Road intersection.
Crews will be installing a traffic signal from 8:30 a.m. to about 11:30 a.m.
Traffic on Stolley Park Road will be open to one lane and flaggers will control cars on the other end of the work area.
John Collins, the public works director, said the changes will help allow drivers to pass safely.
"With the school being built there and there being an existing school, traffic peaks are very high and we need to accommodate that traffic," Collins said. "Adams is a truck route, so there's a lot of trucks going up and down there."
Crews will also be moving a pedestrian signal east of Adams Street to the intersection.
"Pedestrians can cross safer and it will accommodate both schools," Collins said.
Officials said they will eventually install a roundabout at the Starr and Barr entrances on Adams street to help with traffic flow.
They plan to have the entire Adams Street Paving Project completed in July, but it depends on the weather.
