Two injured in fiery crash near middle school

GRAND ISLAND, Neb. (KSNB) - Two women are injured after a fiery collision near Walnut Middle School in Grand Island.

Just after 6 o'clock the call came in that a white truck headed northbound on North Custer Avenue veered off the road and struck an unoccupied parked vehicle.

The truck then caught on fire and the two women inside sat down next to it with visible injuries.

Witnesses from a nearby house then pulled the women into their yard away from the burning truck. They were then taken to CHI Health St. Francis for treatment as firefighters extinguished the fire.

The status on their injuries is unknown at this time.
