The two people have been identified as Clarence Patzloff, 57, and Janice Silva, 85. Both are from the Village of Milligan in Fillmore County.

The crash was reported at Highway 33 & West Tower Lane at 2:59 p.m. on Wednesday. That's near the entrance to Walmart on the northeast side of town.

The 2002 Oldsmobile driven by Patzloff was westbound on Highway 33 when it crossed a turn lane and struck a Ford F150.

The driver of the pickup, Kevin Schwartzer, 55, of Omaha, was flown by StarCare to a hospital.

“We don’t know why their car veered into the on-coming lane,” Crete Police Chief Steve Hensel said. Autopsies have been scheduled.
