KEARNEY, Neb. (KSNB) - The American Red Cross is always in need of blood donations, and today University of Nebraska at Kearney students helped fill that need.

Students and staff took a break from the classroom to give blood at the Health Sciences Education Complex.

One woman who came out says she's been giving blood since she was 18.

"My mom had blood donations back when she was pregnant with me, so I have started a lot since then, just trying to give back. I haven't donated in a while, so I decided to come out today," said UNK senior Christina Synek.

The blood drive started at nine in the morning and lasted until three in the afternoon.

Hundreds of students came out to give back, and they also encourage you to do the same.
