Victim witness interview room gets new look

KEARNEY, NE -- In the last few weeks, the interview room utilized by the Victim Witness Unit at the Kearney Police Department got a brand new look thanks to the amazing generosity of two local businesses! Barney Insurance and Ashley Furniture donated all new furniture, artwork, and
toys for children for the newly updated room.

“We are so very grateful for the support and generosity of Barney Insurance and Ashley Furniture”, said Victim Witness Director JoAnn Andersen. “When victims of crime and their families visit our office, it’s crucial that they have a warm and welcoming environment to talk
with an advocate. By helping people feel more comfortable in their surroundings, we can help alleviate some of the initial stress and anxiety naturally felt by victims and their families.”

The Victim Witness Unit is a program set up to aid victims of crime who are unaware of the avenues of assistance open to them. It is a free public service offering information, practical assistance, and referrals for victims of crime in the Buffalo County area.

If you have any questions about the services offered by the Victim Witness Unit, please contact Director JoAnn Andersen at (308) 233-5263.
