Hastings, NE -- The Hastings College women's soccer team defended their home field and unbeaten season when Briar Cliff came to town on Saturday, surging past the Chargers 5-0.

The Broncos (15-0-3) got things going early, with Courtney Doeschot (SO/Omaha, NE) feeding the ball to Rhiannon Castle de Ortega (SR/Newcastle, England) in the 6th minute for her team-leading 14th goal on the season.

Hastings struck again one more in the first half when Berkley Sharp (SO/Basehor, KS) got the ball to Olivia McMahon (SO/Omaha, NE) for a goal and a 2-0 lead in the 30th minute.

The McMahon-Doeschot duo got the offense going for the Broncos again in the second have with McMahon tapping the ball to Doeschot to make it 3-0.

It took only three and a half minutes for the Broncos to strike again, as Sharp went from the assist column to the goal column in the 74th minute.

In the closing minutes of the game, Laurie Potvin (SO/Quebec City, Canada) got into the fun, scoring the fifth and final goal of the game for the Broncos.

With the win, the Broncos advance to the Cypress Risk Management 2018 GPAC Women's Soccer Championship to take on the Concordia Bulldogs, who advanced to the championship with a 1-0 win over Midland in Fremont. The game is set for Thursday and will start at 7 p.m. CST.
