Bronco young-guns learn on the fly

Hastings, NE -- At 6"2', sophomore Lucy Skoch stands tall for the Hastings College volleyball team. Last fall, she was a forced to be reckoned with, ranking among the top in the nation in blocks, earning her GPAC honorable mention.

In 2018, head coach Matt Buttermore is moving his prized middle blocker to the right side, where she can showcase her wicked arm and fill a position the Broncos lack depth this season. It's a new position for Skoch, but after months of practice, she's quickly catching on and says she's getting more and more comfortable by the day.

Filling her spot in the middle is freshman Emily Krolikowski - sister of senior outside hitter Casey Krolikowski. Emily is the lone freshman on the varsity club, but Buttermore says her natural instincts allow her to make quick decisions. Like Skoch, she too is having to learn on the fly, but says the rest of the team is making the transition seamless.
