HASTINGS, Neb. (KSNB) - The Hastings College women's soccer team utilized three first half goals to defeat College of Saint Mary 3-0 on Wednesday in GPAC action here at Lloyd Wilson Field.

It didn't take long for the Broncos to get on the board with a goal in the 10th minute, as Josie Knapp (SR/Lincoln, NE) was able to capitalize on her own corner kick to squeeze the ball right through the goal keepers hands to make it 1-0.

The Flames played a very defensive game plan in the first half which seemed to contain the Bronco offense during the first 45 minutes. Hastings did out shoot McPherson 14-0 and would get on the board two more time before the half would end. Courtney Doeschot (JR/Omaha, NE) was able to send it into the back of the net in the 25th minute, and teammate Abby Morillon (SR/Cheyenne, WY) would also score off a deflected shot by the Flames to take a 3-0 lead into half.

Hastings carried that lead into the second half where they seem to slow the pace down by spreading the ball around the field. The Flames defense picked up where they left off in the first half as they played another defensive half against the Broncos.

Hastings finished the game out shooting CSM 25-to-1 with a 15-to-1 advantage in shots on goal.

Sarah Carpenter (JR/Olathe, KS) collected her third clean sheet of the season recording one save on the day.

Hastings moves to 7-2 on the year and will be back in action Saturday Oct. 5 here at Lloyd Wilson Field as they host University of Jamestown with kick-off set for 5:30 p.m. CT.
