HASTINGS, Neb. (KSNB) - The Hastings College volleyball team was able to a have a productive weekend at the Five Points Bank Classic. As the Lady Broncos were able to pick up two big sweeps over Roosevelt University and McPherson College.

Facing the Bulldogs of McPherson College, the Lady Broncos wasted no time to get to work as they put the foot on the gas and was able to get off to a hot start taking a 10-2 lead. The Lady Broncos put the foot on the gas and never looked back as they were able to take set one 25-12 in dominate fashion.
During the second set, McPherson was able to keep it closer in the first half of the set only down 9-8. The Lady Broncos were able to get hot and go on a 10-2 run making the score 19-10, before the Bulldogs were able go on a 5-1 run bringing the score 20-15. Didn't matter as the Lady Broncos were able to finish the set winning 25-17.
The Lady Broncos were able to get off to an early lead in the third set. They use the lead to their advantage as they slowly were able to keep pushing away from McPherson College, finishing them off 25-18 to complete their second sweep on the weekend.
In the final match against Tabor College, Tabor came out strong trying to keep it close. It worked for the beginning part of the first set and both teams went back and forth with each other. Did not last too long as the Lady Broncos were able to find the motivation they needed as they were down 11-6 and were able to go off on an incredible 9-0 run.
This forced Tabor to take a timeout, which obviously didn't affect the Lady Broncos as they were able to continue their domination going on another big run 7-3 to extend the lead to 22-14 forcing Tabor to take another timeout. This time Tabor was able to get a little motivation as they go on a small run to bring the score to 22-18. The Lady Broncos were able hold of the Blue Jays, as they win the first set 25-20.
The Lady Broncos came out strong and dominate in the second set as they found themselves up early 13-7. The Blue Jays weren't able to find much room to score as the Lady Broncos go on another incredible run as they finish off the second set on a 12-2 run with the help of Cassidy Ostrand (SR/Central City, NE) serving, taking set two by a score of 25-9.
Tabor College just did not have an answer for the Lady Broncos in the third set. The Lady Broncos were able to get an early lead after going back and forth in the beginning of the third. The Lady Broncos took that lead and continually kept pushing away from the Blue Jays leading 16-10 midway through the third. After a timeout by Tabor, the Lady Broncos were able to keep the momentum in their favor by finishing off the Bulldogs 25-14
The Lady Broncos this weekend was led offensively by Emily Krolikowski (SO/Cairo, NE) and Danielle Bruha (JR/Ord, NE) as they lead the team with 21 and 17 total kills each. Krolikowski had a hitting percentage of .467 and .370, and Bruha had an also impressive hitting percentage of .389 and .316 this Saturday. Claire Vanderbeek (FR/Kearney, NE) had outstanding hitting percentage against McPherson, as she posted a .857 hitting percentage. Lucy Skoch (JR/Hastings, NE) was able to provide great offense and defense this Saturday as she had 13 kills, a hitting percentage of .500 against Tabor, and had 7 total blocks. Claira Thede (JR/St. Paul, NE) lead the Lady Broncos with 19 total digs and also posted 32 assist of her own.
The Lady Broncos will be back in action September 11th against Doane University, here at Lynn Farrell Arena at 7:30 p.m.
