Broncos win fourth straight GPAC title

HASTINGS, Neb. (KSNB) - The Hastings College men's soccer team was able to finish the job in the GPAC tournament beating the Briar Cliff Chargers 2-0 in the 2019 GPAC Men's Soccer Tournament Championship for their fourth consecutive GPAC Tournament Title.

Coming out the gate both teams had their opportunities on goal in the first half, but neither were able to find the net in the first half as the team go into the locker room tied 0-0. The Chargers were able to fire off more shots than the Broncos in the first half10-5 with shots on goal in favor of the Chargers as well 5-1.

Coming out of half, the Broncos were able to flip the momentum as they began attacking the net more than they did in the first. In the 60th minute of the game, Callum Watson (SO/Chelmsford, England) got an excellent pass to Will Pointon (JR/Portsmouth, England) for the header finish and the Broncos 1-0 lead.

As they kept up on the offensive pressure, Callum Watson would send a beautiful cross off of his corner kick, right to Dan Wheeler (JR/Swindon, England), but Wheeler's header would go just left of the goal. As the Broncos continue looking to add to their lead, Lukas Goetz (FR/Nordstetten Berufliche, Germany) would finish a beautiful shot to give the Broncos 2-0 lead in the 85th minute. Goetz goal would seal the deal for the Broncos, as they would go on to win 2-0.

The Broncos lead the Chargers 17-13 on shots, and 9-6 on shots on goal. Broncos and Chargers were able to both pick up seven corner kicks on the night. Jesus Parra (JR/Salinas, CA) was perfect for the Broncos with 6 saves to help shutout the Chargers.
