GRAND ISLAND, Neb (KSNB) - Joe Wells was born and raised in Grand Island. For the last 38 years, he was an assistant coach on the Islanders football team and for the last three he was the head coach of the Grand Island baseball team.

Wells leaves with no regrets but he knows it won't be the same come next fall.

"The football games on Friday night will go along without the old running backs coach," Wells said. "The baseball games will go along without him too. I'll be there watching and it won't be the same but I feel like I left it for someone better in a way for them to build on it."
