GRAND ISLAND, Neb. (KSNB) - The Grand Island Central Catholic girls basketball team has started the 2019-20 season a perfect 2-0. Head Coach Stacia Rice is entering her fifth year at the helm and looks to improve upon last year's 19-5 record.

The Crusaders now play in Class C2, and bringing back five players with starting experience has them as one of the top teams in the class at the start of the season.

"I definitely think we could be a state championship kind of team," Rice said. "It just kind of depends on how well the girls respond to adversity and that's kind of what we have been dealing with. We just gotta go out and be ready to play each game."

The Crusaders look to get back to the State Tournament in Lincoln after missing out a year ago. GICC is back in action Friday, Dec. 13 taking on Columbus Scotus on the road.
