SUTTON, Neb. (KSNB) - The Sutton football team rushed for 550 yards and six touchdowns in their Class C2 semifinal win over BRLD. The Mustangs only attempted one pass, while running it 54 times.
"Just normal blocking, just making sure Cade (Wiseman) and Jackson (Perrien) get yards and get them touchdowns," Senior offensive lineman Jarvis Smith said. "It felt great finally realizing that we put 500 yards on the ground, so that was pretty amazing."
Wiseman and Perrien rushed for 3,364 yards and 45 touchdowns on the season. The pair has played the last three years at Sutton and now in their final year, they are proving to be unstoppable.
"Ever since I can remember we've been best friends. We definitely make sure to compare stats every now and then," Perrien said. "During the game, we're pretty much all business. We don't really pay attention to that stuff. We just keep telling each other to keep doing our thing and hopefully we come out on top."
The Mustangs face undefeated Oakland-Craig on Nov. 26 in the Class C-2 title game, looking for their first state title since 1988.
