LINCOLN, Neb. (KSNB) - Grand Island Central Catholic swept rival Hastings St. Cecilia in the Class C2 Title game to claim first state title since 2010. The Crusaders were bested by the Hawkettes the three times they had faced before the State Volleyball began.

GICC head coach, Sharon Zavala said playing St. Cecilia so much in the regular season helped them realize what they needed to practice on before battling the top-ranked Hawkettes at the Bob Devaney Sports Center on Saturday, Nov. 9.

This marked the tenth state title in school history and it was only the second time these two teams had ever met at the State Tournament.
