Grasso and Pankratz providing spark for Broncos

HASTINGS, Neb. (KSNB) - The second-ranked Hastings College women's basketball team has not let their lack of size stop them from having a historic season. The Broncos are unbeaten on the season (20-0, 12-0 GPAC) and are getting key contributions from their "bigs," Gabby Grasso and Sophia Pankratz.

"Gabby's unbelievable defensively. She's so good. She can block shots, she's undersized but she can block shots," Head Coach, Jina Douglas said. "She's a great help side defender. So, she kind of covers up anything by the rim that we try to do pressure wise. [Sophia] just gives you a lot of energy, she'll just play her heart out and try to get steals and try to give us a lot of energy plays out there."

Grasso leads the GPAC with 38 blocks and ranks 20th nationally in blocks per game. Pankratz leads the team in shooting percentage (.529), with a minimum of 20 shot attempts.

Broncos are in action tomorrow, Wed. Jan. 22 on the road against 12th-ranked Dakota Wesleyan.
