HASTINGS, Neb. (KSNB) - The Hastings College Football team was back in action Saturday as they hosted Dordt University on Senior Day. The Broncos were unable to keep up with the defenders pace as they fell 70-28.

Dordt would start the game with the ball, while driving down the field, they would picked up a big 20-yard rush to the Hastings 38-yard line, After a few plays later, Dordt would attempt a 39-yard field goal but would miss wide right. The Broncos started off their first drive of the game with a big 45-yard run by Isaiah Jackson (SR/Compton, CA), but three plays later the Broncos were forced to punt.

Dordt's next drive would consist of a couple some gains, then three big plays in a row, as they would pick up a 16, 20, and then an 18-yard touchdown run by Noah Clayberg to put the Defenders up 7-0.

The Broncos would go three and out on their next possession and were forced to punt again. After a big punt return to Hastings 8-yard line, the first play of the drive Clayberg would run it again to go up 14-0.

Hastings would have trouble again on offense as on the first play of the drive Dordt would force a fumble and recover it on Hastings 36-yard line. Three plays later Dordt would find the end zone to go up 21-0 in the first quarter.

On the Broncos next drive they would finally begin to drive the ball as Jesse Ulrich (FR/Ord, NE) would pick up a big first down with a 5-yard quarterback sneak on fourth and one. Very next play Ulrich would pick up another first down on a big 28-yard rush. A couple plays later; Ulrich would find Keiotey Stenhouse (SR/Pacoima, CA) on a 27-yard touchdown pass to put the Broncos on the board 21-7.

Dordt wouldn't waste anytime responding to the Broncos score, as on their first play Clayberg would run it 75-yards in for a touchdown to put the Defenders up 28-7. The Broncos would answer right back though, as Ulrich would have a big 42-yard run and then Brett Simonsen (FR/Sutton, NE) would run it in on a 38-yard touchdown, still trailing 28-14.

The Broncos wouldn't be able to stop the Defenders offense as they found the end zone three more time to take a 49-14 lead into halftime.

Coming out of half the Broncos would get things moving again on offense, as Jackson would find Griffin Roberts (JR/Fort Collins, CO) for a 15-yard first down and then another 18-yard first down rush by Simonsen. After a holding call on the Dordt defense, Jackson would connect with Anthony Martinez (SR/Oceanside, CA) on a 21-yard touchdown pass to make the score 49-21.

With 9 minutes left in the third quarter, the Defenders would start driving the field before Kendall Oberheide (SR/Hastings, NE) would force a fumble and DaeRon Jones (SO/Kansas City, MO) would recover on the Broncos own 25-yard line. First play of the drive Jackson would find Stenhouse for a big 75-yard touchdown to bring the score 49-28.

Unfortunately, that would be the final scoring drive for the Broncos as they would have trouble holding onto the ball. Dordt would find the end zone three more time before the end of the game, as the Broncos would fall 70-28.

Hastings was outgained 720-to-456 by Dordt. Dordt would out rush the Broncos 585-to-279, but he Broncos would pick up more yard through the air than the Defenders 177-to-135.

The Broncos will look to return back to action next weekend, when they travel to Orange City, IA as they take on #5 Northwestern College on November 9th. Kickoff is slated for 1 p.m. CST.
