The Hastings College men's basketball team found themselves fighting to the last buzzer on Wednesday, but eventually took down the Mount Marty Lancers 67-60.

The Broncos (6-1, 2-0 GPAC) started their sixth straight win on the right foot, as Bart Hiscock (JR/Bennington, NE), Brendan Lipovsky (JR/Fairfield, NE), and Shane Chamberlain (FR/Harlan, IA) collectively got the Broncos ahead 7-0 in the first two minutes of the game.

With the 7-0 lead, the Broncos were cooled down with a 12-2 run by the Lancers. Kevin Miller (SR/Watts, CA) was able to tie the game again with a three-pointer, and started a small back and forth battle with the Lancers.

Facing a 34-28 deficit with 2:06 left in the half, the Broncos were able to finish off strong with Hiscock and Ben Wahlberg (SR/Phoenix, AZ) draining three-pointer to tie the game and Hiscock giving the Broncos the 36-34 lead with a layup off a Lancer turnover.

The second half started with a battle for the lead, with both teams taking the lead at least once and three ties in the first seven and a half minutes, but it was a free throw by Zach Kitten (JR/Hastings, NE) that put Hastings ahead and a Miller dunk that put the momentum in the Broncos' favor in the form of a 46-43 lead with 12:13 left in the game, and this was all the Broncos needed as they never relinquished the lead.

Mount Marty was able to get within two of the Broncos with 59 seconds left, but Hastings finished the game on a 5-0 run to take the 67-60 victory over the Lancers.

Leading the Broncos offensively were the trio of Miller, Hiscock, and Kitten who scored 19, 16, and 11, respectively.

As a team, Hastings finished with a .382 shooting percentage, but won the turnover game by a large margin with a +11 turnover margin.

Next for the Broncos is a trip to Seward where they will look to stay perfect in conference play against Concordia. Tipoff is set for 8 p.m. CST.
