Hastings Men's Soccer dominates Doane in GPAC Quarterfinals

Hastings, Neb. - The Hastings College men's soccer team got business done early and often on Thursday, taking down the Doane Tigers 7-0 in a Cypress Risk Management 2018 GPAC Soccer Tournament Quarterfinals match.

The Broncos (15-2) took less than three minutes to get ahead of the Tigers, as Joe Connoly placed a kick perfectly to Daniel Whitehall (SR/Warrington, England) who got a header into the upper-90 for the 1-0 Broncos lead.

In the 13th minute, Callum Watson (FR/Chelmsford, England) got a corner kick assist with Tyrone Madhani (JR/Sussex, England) getting a first-touch header on the corner kick.

Whitehall got his 90th career goal with a penalty kick in the 22nd minute, putting the Broncos ahead 3-0 early.

The Broncos were not done as Whitehall got a high pass to Callum Watson, who was able to get a cross shot into the net for the goal, then went to the stands to quickly celebrate the goal with his father, Jeff.

Connoly was able to add to his assist total on the night when he got the ball to Brodie Hayes (JR/Brisbane, Australia) in a very contested box who took the shot and got the results, putting the Broncos ahead 5-0 with a minute left in the half.

Jonathan Lopez (SO/Omaha, NE) was able to get things going in the 56th minute when he fed the ball to a David Panter (FR/Reading, England) who beat his defender and nutmegged the goalkeeper for a 6-0 Broncos lead.

The final goal came in the 85th minute when Madhani got the second corner kick assist on the night, getting the ball to a Nate Miller (JR/Warrensburg, MO) who tapped the ball while in past three unexpecting Tigers.

The Broncos will take on the No. 4 seeded Concordia Bulldogs, who advanced on penalty kicks against Midland on Thursday, in the GPAC Semifinals. The match is set for 7 p.m. CST on Tuesday at Lloyd Wilson Field.
