Hastings offense explodes for 22-runs in opener
The Hastings Five Points Bank Chiefs did not have to break off much rust, as the offense scored 18 runs in the first two innings to beat Lexington Pinnacle Bank, 22-1 in five innings.
"I wanted to coach these guys again because they deserve to be on a baseball field. Being around them they're such good kids to coach," Hastings head coach Kevin Asher said. "I mean, they come to practice ready to work. They do all the little things. Whether we're playing for a regional title, a state title, to me I'll remember this team for how they've approached season. How they've really put the team first attitude."
Chiefs travel to Omaha South tomorrow for their first tournament of the season. First game is at 1:30 p.m. against the Millard Sox which is followed by their against Omaha South at 3:30 p.m..
