Nebraska battled foul trouble, an early deficit and shooting struggles late Sunday night in the second round of the NIT. The result was a season-ending loss at TCU. The 88-72 outcome concludes the 2018-19 season with a 19-17 record. Now the focus shifts to head coach Tim Miles and his status with the Huskers. Miles owns a 116-114 record over seven seasons.
Against the Horned Frogs, Nebraska was led by Tanner Borchardt's career-high 16 points. All-Big Ten guard James Palmer, Jr. shot just 28 percent while Isaiah Roby, coming off a career-high performance in the NIT First Round, played just 16 minutes. Roby fouled out midway through the second half and was ejected after receiving a Flagrant II foul.
Nebraska briefly took the lead on a Thorir Thorbjarnarson 3-pointer in the first half. TCU answered with a 10-1 run that put the Horned Frogs in front for the remainder of the game.
TCU advances to play Creighton in the NIT Quarterfinals on Tuesday.
