Kearney High teachers and students gathered at the Big Apple Bowling Center to play a friendly game of bowling. The event was to bring together teachers and students outside of the classroom and to celebrate the Bearcats' first unified bowling season..

"You see them in the halls, you see them in the classroom but you really don't have the opportunity to mix things up a little bit, on a little more fun level," Kearney Unified Bowling Coach, Robbie Samuelson said.

"It's interesting. I like seeing them more as a person rather than a teacher," Kearney High senior, Conner Arnold said. "Instead of having someone just talk to us, it's someone I can interact with and be friends with. Instead of just someone I can see at school."

Unified bowling is all encompassing to anyone, the Bearcats have some special needs students who participate.

Kearney finished runner-up at Districts to Grand Island Northwest and did not qualify for the State Tournament which takes place next Monday, Dec. 9 in Lincoln.
