HASTINGS, Neb. (KSNB) - Sophomore, Bailey Kissinger is once again making noise for the Hawkette basketball team. It was just a year ago, she led the team in points per game (12.7) in its state-title winning season.
"Basketball has always been my favorite sport and I've always loved just getting better," Kissinger said. "It's really easy to like it when all my teammates are so awesome and they always help us. They push us every single day just to get better."
This season, she's second in the team in points per game (11.0), first in assists per game (2.9) and leads the team in steals (26).
"Bailey's got a tremendous work ethic and she always wants to be good. She puts a lot of time into basketball and the output definitely shows," St. Cecilia girls basketball coach, Greg Berndt said. "She's definitely a driven kid and it's fun to have her because she really loves basketball and truly wants to be great."
Kissinger's love for basketball started before high school playing one-on-one with her six siblings.
"We would always have bets on who would be the best and stuff. Our family is just really competitive with every sport," Kissinger said. "My sisters play softball, everyone in our family has played basketball. So, it's just been a really big deal and we always get better together."
Kissinger and the Hawkettes' are back in action, Thursday, Jan. 16 at home playing Minden.
