HASTINGS, Neb. -- The Hastings College volleyball team is on a roll as of late, winning their last seven matches with two of them being on the road this past week.
While the team visited Doane University, the Broncos needed four sets to polish off their longtime rival, and the win had to come after Doane won a hotly contested third set by two.
HC Coach Matt Buttermore says his team's resolve in that moment shows they're ready for postseason play.
"Seeing us bounce back from that set three loss and seeing us come out and play well in set four, and it wasn't really close there in set four," Buttermore said. "I was really worried that after we dropped that third set - how we were going to respond, and I thought we did a great job of responding well. We certainly didn't want to play that fourth set if we didn't have to, but we played well in the fourth set and got out of there in four."
The Lady Broncos don't exactly have a lay-up to end their regular season this week either, as they welcome in 12th-ranked Midland University for the finale leading up to the conference tournament.
While it seems like a tough draw for HC, coach Buttermore says that's just the status quo when playing in the GPAC.
"Yeah, I mean there's no nights off," Buttermore said. "Every game you play, you can lose. There's no 'okay, get the bench ready, or anything like that kind of thing. Literally, every game we've played this year we had to play well to win, so we can definitely feel that stress a little bit."
That regular season finale tips off Wednesday before the Broncos embark into the GPAC Conference Tournament.
