Northwest girls basketball begin title defense with similar mindset

GRAND ISLAND, Neb. (KSNB) - The Grand Island Northwest girls basketball team added a fourth title to their championship banner last March. This season, the Vikings bring back three starters from last year's championship squad and now enter the 2019-20 season with high expectations.

"Even though we are ranked higher, we still need to work just as hard as we did last year. We kind of don't want to have big heads about it," Northwest senior point guard," Whitney Brown said. "Keep our heads low and just work every day in practice and come into a game and expect nothing but to work hard and see what the outcome is from that."

The Vikings have started the season 2-0 and welcome in Crete this Friday, Dec. 13 for a championship rematch from a year ago.
