Patriots hope offense powers them back to State Tournament

HASTINGS, Neb. (KSNB) - The Adams Central girls basketball is coming off its fourth trip to the State Tournament in Lincoln. The Patriots ended last year with a record 18-8 but lost nine seniors.

This season, Adams Central has started off 4-1. Head Coach Evan Smith has a young roster this go-round and the fourth year head coach likes what he has seen from his offense early on in the season.

"I think offensively we've really done some good things so far, we can get to the rim really well," Smith said. "We're just a better shooting team then we were last year. Defensively, we still got some things to work on but I think offensively we are gelling pretty well right now."

Through five games the Patriots are averaging 53.8 points a game but they have already suffered an injury to Sophomore Libby Trausch, who broke her leg. Coach Smith said he hopes to have her back at the end of the season.

The Patriots are back in action this Saturday, Dec. 21 on the road at Fillmore Central.
