The Hastings Sodbusters drop their season opener to the Fremont Moo, 7-4. The Sodbusters trailed by six runs after 5 1/2 inning.

It was Grand Island Senior High grad Cole Evans who ended the Fremont's no-hitter in the bottom of the sixth with a deep triple to right field. Hastings native Grant Schmidt then brought him home after he grounded out to third. Schmidt had 2-RBIs.

Hastings big inning came in the seventh, when Mike Decker's 2-RBI double made it a two-score game but the comeback fell short.

Sodbusters and Moo are back at Duncan field tomorrow. First pitch set for 6:35 p.m.
