KEARNEY, Neb. (KSNB) - The Tri-City Storm is set to host a “Saturday Showdown” this Saturday at the Viaero Center in Kearney. The Storm will play host to in state rival Lincoln in the opening preseason game of the exhibition schedule at 7:05pm.
The game is free for all guests who wish to attend. Prior to the free preseason game, the Viaero Center will host a watch party for the Nebraska vs. Colorado rivalry game.
Like the Storm’s preseason game later that night, the watch party will also be free to attend. Kickoff for Nebraska vs. Colorado is set for 2:30pm, puck drop for Storm vs. Stars will be at 7:05pm.
Doors will open at 1:30pm, one hour before kickoff, for the watch party at the Viaero Center. Fans attending the watch party will get the first opportunity to purchase concession items from a new concession menu that will be fully unveiled at the Storm’s regular season home opener on October 4th vs. the Omaha Lancers. $2 Bush Light cans will also be available.
The Storm and the Stars met twice during last season’s preseason. Tri-City won the first preseason contest of the year at the Viaero Center by a final score of 3-2, and Lincoln won the final preseason game of the year in overtime by a final score of 3-2 at the Ice Box in Lincoln.
In the regular season, Tri-City won eight of nine games by a total scoring margin of 36-17. Saturday’s game will be the first of two home preseason games, and the first of six total exhibition games in the year’s preseason schedule.
Season tickets are now on sale and can be purchased by calling the Viaero Center Box Office at 308-338-8144. Individual game tickets, including the Storm’s home opener on October 4th, will be available for purchase on Monday, September 9th.
