An arrest is made in Scottsbluff connected to a fatal accident in Colorado

SCOTTSBLUFF, Neb. - (KNEP) - One man is arrested in Scottsbluff in connection to a fatal hit and run between a vehicle and a bicyclist in Colorado.

According to Douglas County Colorado Sheriff’s Office, the accident occurred on July 4th just before 6:30 am in front of Parker Core Knowledge Charter School. The victim, Chuck Vogel of Parker, CO, was killed in the accident.

The vehicle that was involved in the accident was found abandoned at an apartment complex near the scene of the crash. A crime stoppers alert was sent out on July 9th with detectives working to locate the driver of the vehicle.

On July 16th, 36-year-old Preston James Dorris was taken into custody in Scottsbluff on two Douglas County warrants related to the accident.

Dorris is being charged with failure to remain at the scene after an accident involving death, vehicular homicide, robbery, first degree aggravated motor vehicle theft and failure to notify police of an accident. His bond has been set at $275,000.
